my experience in the studio
At the beginning of 2025, I decided this would be my last year practicing as a psychologist. I had been seeing patients, teaching and training generations of therapists, and writing for the profession for 45 years. I thought I had had enough and wanted to focus on painting. Having nothing but time in the studio made it clear to me that, as much as I love the creative process and connecting with collectors through art, it is not enough for me. What has worked for the last 5 years is balancing the two. While I am sure about the decision to stop training therapists, I still enjoy the clinical work. Facilitating healing and transformation in the lives of others gives my life meaning and purpose. I also see that these two endeavors are intimately connected and feed each other. One without the other just doesn’t do it for me.
