Summer slump

Hi all,

During these summer months. there has been a lull in my creative productivity. A number of factors have contributed to this, from lots of travel, to finishing edits and revisions on a book that will be published in March of 206. When I do have time to paint, I notice I am going slower. No longer in a rush, or feeling the need to please anybody, I am taking time to let paintings evolve or to leave them alone! Here are two large paintings ( the first is 50” H and 40” wide, the other is 50” square) that feel successful to me and refelct this new approach.

The first is called “Sand, Rock and Sky” and is a mixed media painting on canvas. The rich but muted colors and mark-making feature prominently. It is stong and bold and somewhat geometric. In contrast, “Morning light” is soft and spacious. In this painting, there is a sense that less is more, and I am happy to leave it as is. Let me know how these pieces strike you and what they evoke.
